Open Question: Ordering a Tailor Made Suit in Bangkok/Chiang Mai?
What is a good price for a tailor made suit in Bangkok? Someone said not to pay more than 1500 baht which is about $44 US. I read prices for suits were cheaper in Chiang Mai, I'm thinking maybe I should have a suit made for me since it's so darned expensive here in the States. Also, is there good selection of silk ties? What is best place to find silk tie? JJ Market? Suan Lum Night Bazaar? Central? Or MBK? I can't receive your video to work. How is watching a video supposed to help me? Why can't you just answer the question? Hey everyone, do NOT click on the link to Gladwin B's post it is malware. I just clicked it and now my computer is every jacked up. Do not run or download anything from his link, it's bad for your computer.

Open Question: Please rate this poem!?
I've been working on a poem lately and I'd like to copy it down in my poem book, but it has to be absolutely perfect before I can do that. You may not know, but the poem is supposed to be describing Bangkok (City of Angels), Thailand (Land of Smiles). Please rate it and suggest! Thanks The beautiful sounds of the tonal tongue rising in the air, the true sincerity, humbleness, and genuine care. delectable smoothies and spicy-hot sea-food, colorful taxis: pink, green, purple and blue! stairways in the middle of the sidewalk, leading to crowded train stations and into big malls. the stench of sewer mixed with cooking on the streets, helpless people begging for money. everyone walking in the rain and storms, night markets and road sales everywhere you go! restaurant owners that never forget who you are, steering wheels placed on the right side of the car! stylish girls walking in super high-heel shoes, swimming anytime in refreshingly icy pools. sweet deodorants, soap, and olive-scented lotion, where raising your foot up is considered a rude motion. where the king is loved like no other thing, the national animal is the elephant. the list goes on for miles and miles, the city of angels, in the land of smiles. What do you think? Thanks!

Open Question: Paying Addtl Fees to Taxi Drivers/Tuk Tuk - How To Avoid Them?
So in Bangkok you flag a cab, he takes you to A-1 Jewelry Store on Sukhumvit Road, he will follow you into the store to collect his "fee" for taking you there. My question is, how to avoid this? Becaus sometimes they take that fee out on you. I am thinking of staying at Watana Mansion and I'm afraid that if I take a cab there the cab driver will follow me into the hotel and collect his "fee" and they will in turn charge me that fee which won't make me glad. The Watana Mansion is close the Thai Cultural middle (it's right across the road). Do I just ask the cab driver to take me to the Cultural middle so he can't collect his fee?

I was wondering if anyone could explain the lyrics to me. I think its every innyendo, but I don't receive it and its killing me! Here they are: [THE AMERICAN] Bangkok, Oriental setting And the city don't know that the city is getting The creme de la creme of the chess world in a Show with everything but Yul Brynner Time flies -- doesn't seem a minute Since the Tirolean spa had the chess boys in it every change -- don't you know that when you Play at this level there's no ordinary venue It's Iceland -- or the Philippines -- or Hastings -- or -- or this place! Open Question: Anyone recommend a good clean hostel in Bangkok?
I'm thinking of staying at Suk11 close Soi 11 in Bangkok because it's cheap. I'm just wondering if there are other alternatives besides this one that are pretty close to MTS or BRT stations? I guess hostel close Khao San Rd is ok but I've read that prices are inflated over there as far as markets go and I'm not terribly comfortable of hanging with other backpackers (even though Suk11 caters to just that but the area is less backpacky than Khao San). I just need clean and affordable which Suk11 offers but just wanted to receive a quick peak at other hostels before I make the plunge and put down my deposit. I already checked out HQ Hostel because so many people have recommended that place and it's sold out for the days I want. It's a little pricey actually and I'm not even sure I like the design, it's modern but ugly, like Ikea stuff (at least that's the way it looks in pictures). Thanks Mister glad for your advice. Actually I've seen ppl say that there's tons of Hostels in Bangkok not available online but that doesn't help me. Hopefully after I receive there I can shed the light on this matter and give people some real advice. I have problem with this because I don't know how difficult it is to deal with front desk. How well do they talk english? What is likelihood they will have vacancy? I'm traveling by myself, I have no need for room for 8 not sure where you got that. Also, there's only one Suk11 do a search on Google, you will find it. There's a new Suk11 on Soi 13 as well but I don't think there's a direct weblink to that one. Thanks Mister glad for your advice. well, it's a while since I met a girl in Bangkok ..During her time of difficulties, she used to talk to me very often, I was always there to talk to her and help her go through her difficult times.. Now that her life, is going wonderful now, she doesn't have time for me ....She's on my messenger, she never started the conversation herself...it's only when I talked to her, she says hi, ..I've been missing you ..etc... and as the conversation finished....the day after I received nothing ..not even a hi .. it's been a month now .... you know, she says she's my pal but I don't believe that ....a pal I guess would talk to you now and then ...if you really count for him /her ..What do you think about her?

Resolved Question: Train Tix All Sold Out to Chiang Mai! What Do I do?
Got an email from Traveller2000 today telling me that every train tickets for Dec 31 from Bangkok to Chiang Mai (via Thailand's State Railway) have been sold out! What do I do? I don't wanna take a bus. I'm scared to try other methods of transport because it might be spotty. I went back to traveller2000 tonite to try to book on multiple days, the 30th, Jan 1 and 2 to look if those dates were every sold out as well. This really sucks. I might not receive to look Chiang Mai! :( This also puts a potential damper on the relax of my trip because I already have other things planned.

Open Question: My Itinerary for Bangkok - Wat Do You Think?
Arrive Dec 27, spend 5 days in Bangkok visit wats, give monks offerings, attend May Kai Dee's cooking school, take Muay Thai training class at Sor Vorapin, stay at Suk11 for entire 5 days. Take overnight train to Chiang Mai (booked train ticket through Traveller2000). Will spend 3 days in Chiang Mai, probably do some hiking, visit wats. Take overnight train back to Bangkok. For next two days either travel to Pattaya to look the sleazy spectacle. Since I'll probably take a cab for $50 US and it only takes about two hours to receive there from Bangkok I may spend one day here or two at the maximum. Already have air ticket booked through Thai Airways to Phuket on Jan 6 through 9 ($152 round trip is that good?). Will spend 3 days on sunny Phuket's beaches either parasailing, yukking it up at a bar with a pretty girl, reading, or whatever. Fly back to BKK. Spend the next 4 days in Bangkok visiting MBK, JJ Market, Central, Suan Lum Night Bazaar, my plan is to hit up every these malls one on each day think I can do it? J/k, I'm not that big on shopping, although I do plan to visit Pantip Plaza to buy my electric adapter plug for my battery recharger. Hopefully it's close to Suk11. Any comments about my itinerary? I hate going to Phuket via airport because you have to go back to the airport and that prospect scares me because I have to go through customs and every that and if I take cab you have to pay tolls and extra fare for the airport, etc. Oh my god! Traveller 2000 just told me that every train tix on Dec 31 have been sold out!! This totally changes my plan and now I may have to change my reservation at Suk 11 as well, argh!!! I never thought that the train would be so damn popular. You'd think they'd keep some seats on a first arrive first serve basis, which still wouldn't help me because I'm still in California, but arrive on.
